In today's globalized world, the importance of cross-border collaboration and economic partnerships cannot be underestimated. With the rise of the digital age, accessing information and resources from around the world has become easier than ever before. One avenue that has proven to be invaluable for entrepreneurs and start-ups looking for funding and support is the internet. As an entrepreneur based in Mogadishu, Somalia, I have taken advantage of the power of the internet to search for potential donors and funders for my business venture. In my search, I came across the remarkable work being done by Turkey to attract African start-ups in the SME enterprise sector. Turkey has been actively supporting African entrepreneurs through various programs and initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and income generation on the continent. One of the organizations that caught my attention was the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), which has been instrumental in providing funding and support to African SMEs. I was amazed to find that TIKA and other similar businesses in the donor and funding domain have shown a keen interest in the African SME landscape, including Somalia. After thorough research and networking, I was able to secure 31,600 Turkish lira in funding from the agency. This funding will go a long way in facilitating the establishment of my business, which focuses on the broker and dealer market of Somali natural resources. With data readily available from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development in Mogadishu, I am confident that my business will thrive with the support of TIKA and other stakeholders. The funding I have received will cover the costs of business registration, office setup, and a monthly salary for a period of 3 months. This salary will include the manager and 5 workers, each specializing in different areas such as economy, HR, and communication. With the right team and resources in place, I am confident that my business will make a significant impact in the Somali economy and contribute to the sustainable development of the country. In conclusion, the internet has revolutionized the way entrepreneurs access funding and support for their ventures. Through organizations like TIKA and other donor agencies, African entrepreneurs have the opportunity to grow their businesses and make a positive impact on their communities. As a 20-year-old Somali man living in Mogadishu, I have always been intrigued by the economic incentives that are brought to us by various government websites such as mop.gov.so, mof.gov.so, and moct.gov.so. These websites have identified priority areas such as peace and security, democracy, good governance and human rights, human development, sustainable and inclusive development and growth, and continental integration, as well as global and emerging issues. However, one of the key priorities that resonates with me the most is the focus on creating job opportunities for young graduates in Mogadishu.

Being a first-year university student studying media communication and stakeholders, I have a burning desire to find a suitable job after graduation. In Mogadishu, most businesses are family-owned and have stood the test of time over many years. While this is admirable, it also poses a challenge for young graduates like me who are looking to enter the workforce and make a meaningful contribution to our society.

Recently, I had the opportunity to connect with Engineer Abdifitah in Norway, Oslo. He runs a non-governmental organization greendev.hariiftan.com and has the privilege to apply for funding from NORAD, the Norwegian development agency. The application he is working on focuses on job creation in Mogadishu specifically targeting the young generation of graduates. This initiative excites me as it not only provides potential job opportunities but also highlights the importance of investing in the youth and their future.

Additionally, we have TIKA in Mogadishu, the Turkish Development Agency, which also plays a significant role in providing assistance and support for various development projects in the city. With the collaboration of international organizations like NORAD and TIKA, there is a great potential for creating sustainable job opportunities for young graduates in Mogadishu.

Sitting and chatting with my girl friends, we often discuss our aspirations and dreams for the future. We share our concerns about the limited job prospects in Mogadishu and the challenges we may face in securing meaningful employment.
